ALL THE FILMS IN MY GRANDFATHER’S CLOSET <\/strong>(non-fiction; archiving…)
ALL THE FILMS is a feature length film telling the tale of my grandfather, a Chinese Trinidadian whose life had been defined by an early marriage, resistance to cultural customs and the changing times in Trinidad and Tobago from the 1930s to 2020s via films found in his closet at the time of his death. The films are a range of DVDs, Blu-Rays and VHSs of Hollywood films, personal home videos and old Chinese cinema, which will be compiled, edited and extensively manipulated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Trinidad and Tobago where everyone aims to leave for somewhere else, Trinidadian Lisa encounters the Chinese expat Xialin who invites Lisa to participate in her research of creating a ‘behavioural clone’. Their friendship grows and develops quickly but is challenged by the possibility of a long goodbye.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
